As liberal as I am, is anyone else tired of the Nanny state revolt of these would-be terrorists? Maybe Britain has provided too much to them - the chance for a world-class free education, religious tolerance, free housing, heath care, etc, etc. While I am not crazy about the US' foreign policy and Britain's, I find myself agreeing with some far more right-leaning folk about this spate of insurrection - in short, our policy has rather little to do with it. Religious extremism of any sort cannot tolerate a worldview other than their own. The West is a target because it welcomes people to live their own lives, freely. The weak-willed disaffected need something to follow - and they follow that which gives them a sense of power. After all, it takes inner resources to understand someone else and agree to disagree, not want to obliterate them.
I'm all for tolerance, but not if it is being abused. Limits must be set, as living in a free society works both ways - you will be respected if you respect others. Step out of line, and be prepared to have limits imposed on you. Follow the rules, and don't expect everyone to bend over backwards for you if you cannot make adjustments yourself.
